Part and system guide
Radiator Fan
The radiator fan pulls air through the radiator when vehicle speed is low or cooling demand is high.
What it does
Helps remove heat from coolant during idle, traffic, AC operation, and hot weather.
Failure signs
- Overheating in traffic
- AC warm at idle
- Fan runs constantly
- Temperature gauge swings
- Cooling fan codes on some vehicles
Maintenance notes
- Keep hands away from electric fans because they can start unexpectedly.
- Check fuses, relays, wiring, sensors, and fan command before replacing the fan.
- Do not ignore overheating at idle.
