EGR System
The EGR system routes a controlled amount of exhaust gas back into the intake to reduce combustion temperatures and emissions.
What it does
Helps control NOx emissions and can affect idle, pinging, and drivability when stuck or clogged.
Failure signs
- Rough idle
- Pinging under load
- Stalling
- Poor acceleration
- P0401 or P0402 codes
Maintenance notes
- Inspect passages, valve movement, wiring, and vacuum control where applicable.
- Carbon blockage can mimic valve failure.
- Do not delete emissions systems on street vehicles.
